The Effectiveness of Restorative Justice Practices: A Meta-Analysis

Latimer, Jeff; Dowden, Craig; Muise, Danielle. Jan. 1, 2001
http://www.justice.gc.ca/eng/pi/rs/rep-rap/2001/rp01_1-dr01_1/rp01_1.pdf

Meta-analysis pulls together statistics from many studies to come up with one number to represent them all. In this case, findings from studies comparing the efficacy of restorative justice programs to traditional court programs are examined. The analysis indicates that restorative justice programs have a significant positive impact on victim and offender satisfaction and on restitution compliance. There appears to be no real impact on the rate of recidivism.
