These guidelines are intended to promote public confidence in the mediation process and serve as a general guide for mediator conduct. The guidelines provide general rules of mediator conduct involving the use of information gained during mediation, personal interests of the parties, and the acceptance of specific mediations. They also provide general rules regarding the charging of expenses, disclosure of potential conflicts of interest, mediator qualifications, confidentiality, impartiality, disclosure of information, giving of professional advice, and termination of mediation sessions.
