For actions in which a claim for damages is made against a health practitioner or health care facility, this section directs the court to refer parties to some form of dispute resolution procedure. The section requires parties to participate in dispute resolution within a given time period or face sanctions, unless the dispute is otherwise resolved or both parties agree to waive dispute resolution.
