Oregon Foreclosure Prevention Mediation Program

Oregon Foreclosure Prevention Mediation Program. Jul. 11, 2012
http://www.foreclosuremediationor.org/

The Oregon Foreclosure Prevention Mediation Program gives homeowners facing foreclosure the option of meeting with their lender in an attempt to find an alternative resolution. Homeowners have the option of requesting mediation at the time of default; if they do, the lender is required to participate in mediation. Prior to mediation, homeowners meet with housing counselors to review financial documents and identify alternatives to foreclosure. The program is authorized by statute and governed by the state's Attorney General's Office. The Collins Center, a private mediation services provider, administers the program. The program's website includes specific information and resources for homeowners, lenders, mediators and housing counselors.

The Oregon Foreclosure Prevention Mediation Program is not part of the court system, but is included on CourtADR.org because it is part of the broader justice system.
