The New Mexico Administrative Office of the Courts and the New Mexico Children Youth and Families Department (CYFD) have worked since 2000 to provide mediation services in child abuse and neglect cases. The Children's Court Mediation Program provides mediation services in 12 New Mexico judicial districts and has conducted more than 4,200 mediations since the program's inception. The program also supports the in-house program of the 1st Judicial District. There has been an increase in mediation referrals to the program from 115 in 2000-2001, 395 in 2005-2006, 693 in 2008-2009 and 787 in fiscal year 2010. The program is funded by the state, CYFD grants and from supplemental funding from local district courts, though the budget will be diminished in fiscal year 2011 due to state budget cuts. This report discusses project activities in each district, training opportunities and biographical information about local coordinators as well as program plans for each district, training agendas and a mentor report with recommendations.
