This report describes a four-year project to develop a quality assurance system for mediators in Maryland. The report provides background information on mediation in Maryland and quality assurance at the national level and outlines the Mediator Quality Assurance Committee's work and the process of developing a quality assurance system. The result of the process was the creation of the Maryland Program for Mediator Excellence (MPME). The report provides details about the program and how the Committee involved stakeholders in its design, highlights various task forces and concludes that further outreach will be necessary to encourage providers to utilize these standards, among other recommendations.
