Maine Rules of Civil Procedure: Rule 16B - Alternative Dispute Resolution

Under this rule, parties to any civil action shall schedule an ADR conference, with some listed exemptions. Parties shall select the process and neutral, though if they cannot agree, mediation is the default and the court may select the neutral. The rule provides requirements for attendance at conferences, filing of conference documents and orders, payment of fees, confidentiality, and sanctions for failure to appear and non-compliance.
