ECOSOC Resolution 2002/12 - Basic principles on the use of restorative justice programmes in criminal matters

United Nations Economic and Social Council. Dec. 1, 2002
http://www.un.org/en/ecosoc/docs/2002/resolution%202002-12.pdf

This United Nations resolution encourages Member States to "draw on the basic principles on the use of restorative justice programs in criminal matters in the development and operation of restorative justice programs" (p.55). Those principles are outlined in an annex to this resolution. The resolution also calls for the dissemination of the basic principles, information from Member States that already have restorative justice (RJ) programs and technical assistance to developing countries for RJ programs.
