Dependency Mediation in Colorado's Fourth Judicial District

Thoennes, Nancy. Oct. 1, 1999
http://www.courts.state.co.us/userfiles/File/ODR/Dependency_Mediation_4a_1.pdf

Dependency mediation is a valuable tool that can be used to allow the system to operate more efficiently and effectively. Dependency mediation provides cost avoidance and helps to avoid time delays while producing plans that are similar to those that are non-mediated. In the short run, mediated plans have higher compliance rates than those that are non-mediated. The only variable that is reliable to predict compliance is whether or not the family has been the subject of prior dependency filings, however, this does not mean that cases with this variable should not be sent to dependency mediation.
