Community Mediation Trends and Needs: A Study of Virginia and Ten States

Wilkinson, James. Aug. 1, 2001
https://www.mediate.com/articles/pdf/nvms.pdf

This study was undertaken to determine what services community mediation centers around the United States are providing and how they are funded, to identify services provided by Virginia's community mediation centers and to identify funding options for community mediation in Virginia. Ten states were surveyed for the study, and case studies were extracted from them and written up in the report. The study found that community mediation centers enjoy a broad base of support, that there are a variety of funding mechanisms, and that community mediation centers have forged closer ties to the courts over the past 20 years.
