Under this rule, all appeals filed in the Arizona Court of Appeals, with some listed exceptions, are eligible for inclusion in the settlement conference program, which is intended to explore settlement, limit and simplify issues, and aid the speedy and just resolution of the appeal. The appellate mediator shall be selected by the settlement conference attorney from a list maintained by the court. The rule outlines procedures for conducting the settlement conferences, including scheduling, location, attendance and participation requirements, objecting to assignment, authority of mediators, confidentiality, immunity, mediator disqualification, and filing of a final settlement report.
