After examining the arguments for and against the use of mediation for these cases, this study provides an overview of three child protection mediation programs before delving into the effectiveness of each program. The study found that parents with mediated treatment plans had fewer compliance problems, and that mediated agreements were similar to non-mediated agreements, with the exception that mediated agreements were more likely to call for the children to remain in the home or be returned home.
