Alabama Code of Ethics for Mediators

Supreme Court of Alabama. May. 1, 2020
https://s3.amazonaws.com/aboutrsi/591f1ad9d23fac1b53c2ea4b/2020-AL-Mediator-Code-of-Ethics.pdf

Recently updated, this Code of Ethics for Mediators sets standards for mediators in their mediation practice and provides a framework for the ethical practice of mediation. The code addresses the characteristic and professional qualifications of the mediator, the mediator's communication with a court, the ability of the mediator to relate the mediation process to the parties, the mediator's ability to create an environment of self-determination and impartiality, conflicts of interest, the mediator's responsibility to keep the process confidential, the restrictions of giving professional advice, compensation to the mediator, training, advertising, the prohibition of agreements, and the advancement of mediation. Failure to comply with the standards in this code may be the basis for a mediator's removal from the court's mediator roster.
