Honorable Morton Denlow

Honorable Morton Denlow (Ret.) is a former United States magistrate judge for the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. He was appointed in 1996, and he left the bench in October 2012 to become a neutral at JAMS, a private arbitration and mediation firm. Judge Denlow served as Presiding Magistrate Judge from 2004 - 2008. While on the bench, he presided over thousands of civil and criminal cases in both the pretrial and trial stages, and he conducted over 2,000 settlement conferences with parties. Prior to his appointment to the federal bench, he was actively engaged for 24 years as a trial and appellate lawyer concentrating in complex commercial litigation. He received his undergraduate degree from Washington University in St. Louis, and his law degree from Northwestern University School of Law.

In his former role as Board President, Judge Denlow served as a leader during RSI's transition into an independent organization. Prior to the transition, he had been a member of RSI’s Executive Committee since 1998 and served as its chair from 2011-2013. He is a vice president of the Jewish Judges Association of Illinois, a member of the Board of the Chicago Bar Foundation, and a member of the Committee on the Administration of the Magistrate Judge System of the Judicial Conference of the United States. He is a faculty member at the Federal Judicial Center and is a frequent speaker at local law schools and bar associations. He has written a number of articles for law journals in the areas of civil practice and settlement techniques. He still pitches for the judges’ softball team.
