Ms. Kaufman joined Resolution Systems Institute (RSI) in August 2015 as Director of Foreclosure Mediation. Ms. Kaufman serves as RSI’s resident foreclosure mediation and ADR program specialist and works to help design, implement and conduct mediation programs.

Ms. Kaufman received a J.D. and Certificate in Public Interest Law from IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law, where she was one of four students in her class to receive a full merit scholarship and living stipend through the Honors Scholars Program.

Ms. Kaufman is passionate about exploring new ways of meaningfully expanding access to justice. With this in mind, she was certified as a Mediator at the Center for Conflict Resolution, and she has since mediated small claims, landlord-tenant, and custody and visitation disputes among unrepresented litigants in court. Ms. Kaufman has also designed online guided interviews to help people without lawyers in both California and Kansas to fill out legal forms and advocate for themselves in family law matters, experiences she spoke about at the Legal Services Corporation White House Forum on Increasing Access to Justice in April of 2015.

Prior to law school, Ms. Kaufman earned her B.A. in Sociology from Brown University and her M.Ed. in Teaching English from Lesley University. She first fell in love with mediation while resolving conflicts as an 11th grade English teacher, and she still thinks of her students whenever referred to as “Ms. Kaufman.”
